How does a Knight Craftworks commission work?

Every piece is made to order. It begins with a private consultation with Jerry Knight about your space, how the piece will be used, and the character you want it to carry. He then hand-selects the wood, draws the design around it, builds it by hand, and delivers the finished heirloom with white-glove care.

What is the lead time for a commissioned piece?

Lead time depends on the scale of the work and the wood selected, and typically runs from several weeks to a few months. Because each piece is built by a single craftsman and finished entirely by hand, we take on a limited number of commissions at a time. Exact timing is confirmed during your consultation.

What woods and materials do you work in?

Accepted Answer

Knight Craftworks works in rare and exotic hardwoods, including black walnut, spalted maple, and single live-edge and bookmatched slabs, often paired with hand-cast resin rivers and forged or blackened steel. The wood is always chosen first, for its grain, figure, and provenance.

How is a piece priced, and how do I inquire?

Do you ship, and how is a finished piece delivered?

Yes. Finished works are sealed, carefully packed, and delivered with white-glove care. Knight Craftworks is based in Austintown, Ohio, and can arrange delivery and shipping for collectors beyond the region. Delivery details are confirmed before your piece leaves the atelier.

Yes. Knight Craftworks does not produce a catalogue or repeat a design. Each work is drawn from a unique slab and conceived around the room and the person it is made for, so it exists nowhere else in the world. Every commission is genuinely one of one.
